It's Monday! What are you reading? #1

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a weekly event hosted by the wonderful Shelia at Book Journey. It is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between!

If you happened to have read my past posts you would know I have been going through a Harry Potter Next Generation fanfiction phase. A little embarassing seeing as how I'll be turning 19 next month! *tries not to roll eyes*

So this week all I read was like the first chapter of Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles and The Book of Luke by Jenny O'Connell.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.

Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

Emily Abbott has always been considered the Girl Most Likely to Be Nice — but lately being nice hasn't done her any good. Her parents have decided to move the family from Chicago back to their hometown of Boston in the middle of Emily's senior year. Only Emily's first real boyfriend, Sean, is in Chicago, and so is her shot at class valedictorian and early admission to the Ivy League. What's a nice girl to do?
Then Sean dumps Emily on moving day and her father announces he's staying behind in Chicago "to tie up loose ends," and Emily decides that what a nice girl needs to do is to stop being nice.
She reconnects with her best friends in Boston, Josie and Lucy, only to discover that they too have been on the receiving end of some glaring Guy Don'ts. So when the girls have to come up with something to put in the senior class time capsule, they know exactly what to do. They'll create a not-so-nice reference guide for future generations of guys — an instruction book that teaches them the right way to treat girls.
But when her friends draft Emily to test out their tips on Luke Preston — the hottest, most popular guy in school, who just broke up with Josie by email — Emily soon finds that Luke is the trickiest of test subjects . . . and that even a nice girl like Emily has a few things to learn about love.

Both were rather typical romance novels and so I honestly didn't love them but since they seem to extremely popular and probably the best YA romance fare out there I will definitely get back and read them.
Before that however I am gonna re-read Bad Kitty by Michele Jaffe because I really need a good laugh and a good mystery.

Meet Jasmine - forensic supersleuth and unwitting victim of a naughty feline.

All Jasmine really wants is to enjoy her family vacation in Las Vegas. And avoid her evil cousin Alyson and Alyson's best fiend, Veronique. And show her suspicious dad that she can be a Model Daughter. And maybe meet the hot guy she's been eyeing from across the pool. It that too much to ask?

Apparently, yes. One moment she's an innocent bylounger, the next the central figure in a Las Vegas-sized mystery. Fortunately, Jasmine is both a forensics enthusiast and possessed of some very, well, special friends. Polly, Tom, and Roxy crash the vacation, BeDazzle Jasmine's wardrobe, and find themselves key players in the most outrageous adventure in a town known for outrageous adventures.

All because of a very bad kitty.

So that's all for this week!
What about you?
What are you reading!?

P.S- Any PLL fans out here? You don't think Melissa dies in the Funeral episode, right?
I mean it has to be Ian!!
I really like Melissa !I was hoping she would be A! I don't want her dead!!!

  1. I've read The Book of Luke before, and it was good but kind of meh :/ haha but I guess it's a cool summer read.

I've never read Perfect Chemistry, though. It's just that hugely popular books scare me, they set my expectations too high

Bad Kitty sounds good! If Meg Cabot blurbed it then I *have* to check it out :D

PS. PLL: I used to think Melissa was A too! but then my sister convinced me she couldn't be, but I don't know... I still think there's a possibility... hmmm... so she's probably gonna stay alive a couple more episodes (I hope)

  2. I really loved Perfect Chemistry and Rules of Attraction too. Now I can't wait for Chain Reaction.

As for PLL I read the 8 books but I've never watched it, so I don't know if they follow the books or not :) But I will not spoil anything for you ;)

Happy reading and have a great week!

PS: Thank you for stopping by my blog :D

  5. The Tv Show doesn't follow the books!
